An investigation is under way after a car was "petrol bombed" in Hemlington.
Police were on scene at Harlech Close on Tuesday evening after reports of a vehicle on fire.
Unconfirmed reports on social media said the car had been "petrol bombed" with witnesses also claiming to see two men running away from the scene.
A video circulating on line showed a silver car on fire with its alarms sounding.
The passenger side window had been smashed and large flames could be seen coming from the windscreen area.
No injuries were reported after the arson attack.
A Cleveland Police spokeswoman said: "Police received a report that a vehicle was on fire on Harlech Close in Middlesbrough at around 10.10pm on Tuesday, September 24.
"Fortunately, no one was injured in the incident."
They added: "Officers are investigating the incident as arson and inquiries are ongoing."
