Woman arrested on suspicion of drink driving after crash involving bus in Guisborough

A woman has been arrested on suspicion of drink driving after a crash involving a bus and a car.

The smash happened at around 2.30pm on Monday near to a bus stop on Strona Way, Guisborough .

It involved a white Renault Megane and what appeared to be the 5A Sapphire Middlesbrough to Easington bus.

A picture from the scene shows the front left bumper of the car badly damaged with debris strewn across the road.

Bystanders gathered as police officers attended the area.

A spokeswoman for Cleveland Police said the call came in at 2.30pm, adding: "The female driver of the Megane has been arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol and she has been taken to hospital with minor injuries.

"There were passengers on the bus with minor injuries.

"The road has now been reopened."

North East Ambulance Service said: "We were called at 2.30pm to an RTC involving a bus and a car.

"We dispatched a double crew ambulance and treated and discharged two patients on scene."
